The Cisco Chain of lakes offers outstanding fishing opportunities for anglers of all ages and experience levels. These fifteen interconnected lakes hold species ranging from pan fish to Musky and even Lake Trout, in abundant numbers and with trophy fish available. Although known as some of the best fishing waters in the Midwest, crowds are rare and fishing pressure relatively low. For the fishing enthusiast, the Cisco Chain is a true paradise.

There are thousands of acres of hunting opportunities in the Ottawa National Forest. Many campgrounds are open during hunting seasons. Hunting blinds and portable tree stands are permitted subject to certain regulations. Recreation passenger vehicles such as ATV's and snowmobiles are allowed with some restrictions.

Trap Shooting

The Gateway Hotel Gun Club features a competition trap field and sporting clays course. Gun rental and ammunition sales, ear and eye protection, and related merchandise are available. Schedule a private day of shooting, with lessons. You may arrive a complete novice, train in the morning and shoot a round of clays in the afternoon.

Canoeing and Kayaking

The Cisco Chain provides abundant scenic shoreline, picturesque bays and narrow inlets for exploring by canoe or kayak. The greater area has many other lakes and streams for paddling enthusiasts. The Sylvania Wilderness Area, just a few miles east of Angler’s Isle, is particularly popular for canoeing due to the solitude and raw beauty of its carefully managed virgin forests and pristine lakes, ponds and streams.
